A wedding is a start of togetherness...of walks in the rain, basking in the sunshine, shared meals, caring for one another and sensing the love that a marriage carries.

Kristen & Barrette :: Say "I DO"!!!

Firstly, I have the best job in the world...

Secondly.....to any of the brides-to-be, even if you think you are made of stone...you WILL be nervous on your wedding day......But there is a real sense of comfort when I see the nerves lift off a brides face as soon as she greets her husband-to-be waiting at the altar for her to arrive....this was one of those days...

I love cheering for a couple as their wedding day unfolds in front of my lens, I was cheering for Kristen & Barrette this past Saturday. I was cheering as Kristen walked down the aisle towards her future husband and I was cheering as they left the room as husband and wife....I am not sure I stopped cheering all night!

The reception was a room full of rich hues.....with a lingering faint smell of cinnamon....(either that or it was one of my pregnancy cravings taking over !!) Everyone danced until dawn and then the Bride & Groom were whisked away to the airport .....It was literally perfect from start to finish.

Kristen & Barrette, thank you for trusting me enough to capture your day.....

Kristen: I know you are a detail freak....(just like me!!!) so, these sneak peeks are just for you!!

Enjoy!!

How sweet it is to be loved by you......

'Wedding Cake: A cake of highly ornate architectural style....'

I find this interesting...as personally, some of my favourite wedding cakes that I have seen have been the simple, one layer, one color sprinkled with a few flower petals... I love how the outer layer of a wedding cake protects and keeps secret the world of flavours that await you inside......

I never knew this...but the slicing of the wedding cake, symbolizes two people facing life together as one.....hmmmm...that makes me think I may be in trouble...since we didn't perfectly cut our cake together.....and apparently the wedding cake symbolizes fertility and prosperity and the traditionally accepted practice is for the bride to have the first bite; otherwise she'd be childless and barren.......I guess we proved that wrong !!!!!

A wedding cake is a ritual.....Rituals have staying power. We can chuckle about them and make fun of them, but they have this sneaky way of lingering in our psyche and finding expression during those special moments in our lives... Rituals are here to stay, like it or not....And the ritual of the wedding cake, whether it be six tiers, 1 tier or a  tower of cupcakes will continue to predominate our lives....

I wanted to take a little spin off the beaten path and share a few of my most favourite creations I have seen at weddings to date......

Enjoy!!

Doug & Ara :: HITCHED - Fate Style!!!

Doug & Ara's wedding is such a fantastic example of how and why a wedding day should reflect 2 people in love...Whether they are grade school sweethearts, or just met a few months prior. When I first met Doug & Ara, I was blown away at the love they have for one another, after just a few shorts months!! They had a plan. They met. They fell in love. They wanted to start their life together. And I am so happy their plan included me.

The day was late fall just outside of Oakville, the golden corn fields were long ready for harvesting, the weather was warm, and the air was filled with love........

I hope these images reflect how beautiful their big day was and what wonderful people they really are.....

Erin & John :: HITCHED!!

Erin & John are a beautiful couple—both with a fantastic sense of humour! Seeing how John has taken Erin's children under his wings as his own, melts my heart...This is a family, that was meant to be together from the beginning, and fate helped them find their way.....

Their wedding marked my first solo wedding, and it couldn't have been a more perfect way to introduce myself to the world of wedding photography. Erin & John's prayers for a ‘dry wedding’ were answered—waking up to wet roads and sidewalks, the rain continued on and off all morning..… that was… until the moment Erin and John said ‘I DO’, and the clouds started to clear out.... Yes, right on cue, straight out of a movie.

While outside was cool and dull….....inside was rich with sunflower & cranberry hues, warm smiles and a lot of love. Surrounded by their loving family and friends, Erin and John’s day was something out of a fairytale.

Many thanks to the wonderful couple for inviting me to share in your special day.

Congrats to you both, Erin & John...Cheers!

Now I know what it means....

To have your heart walk around outside your body...I had heard this saying before, many times, but I did not think anything of it until I had my own children...It started with my son who is now 3, and then my daughter followed 16 months later and she is now 2...These two half pints are the LIGHTS of my life, my best friends, and the secret to my happiness...They surprise me every day, they make me laugh, and they make me proud....I just love them to bits.

And the other light of my life is my husband, the one who stands by me through everything...(whether he approves or dis-agrees!), accepts me for who I am, and doesn't judge if one day I don't brush my hair or get out of my jammies...I love you for being my partner in crime....

People are constantly telling me that I have a million dollar family......Sadly enough, we're still waiting for our cheque :)

I am thoroughly addicted to not wanting to miss a moment in my children's tiny little lives, which is why my camera comes everywhere with me!  These first 2 shots you will see are 2 of our many many outings we take...just to burn off energy......AND.......Whenever I acquire new equipment, my first thought is ..."where can we go to try it out!!!"  This 3rd photo is from our wedding & how the fairy tale started....Out of the thousands of wedding photos we received...This has always been, by far, my favourite......Candid & SO full of emotion.  This one picture tells the whole story of our day....

I am just a simple girl, with a simple life....And I just simply LOVE IT!
